Why Recepients Unsubscribe From Mailing Lists
Email marketing is very important for the growth of any company. However keeping your email subscribers on your list isn’t an easy task as below you can see reasons why they unsubscribe from your mailing list. 40% of responders said that the reason why they unsubscribe from mailing list was because it was sent too often.

So how do you decrease the number of unsubscribes from your mailing list? Provide alternatives (change of preferences). 50% of Art.com subscribers presented with alternative to unsubscribe, stay!

What are alternatives to keep your subscribers on your list? For example being able to select email frequency, the topic of emails etc.

Unfortunately, the majority of cheap emailing software doesn’t have such functionality which allows you to set alternatives/preferences. Usually this functionality is only found on enterprise emailing solutions like cheetahmail , strongmail, silverpop etc used for example by art.co.uk, jcpenney.com, officedepot.com, dixons.co.uk, hmv.com, 1-800-flowers.com and many other top 500 online retailers.
Enterprise emailing solutions aren’t cheap costing several hundreds per month, but compared to basic email solutions, these offer more for your bucks and higher automation of your email marketing efforts.

That is exactly why I recently unsubscribed to many email lists, they came so often, they piled up and I never read them. Monthly email newsletters, I always read. Twice monthly, I usually read. Weekly emails, I try to glance at. More often than that, go unread or deleted. And more than one a day? That’s just spam.
